Default Your friend can make you fat.

A study reveals that habits are socially contagious and that the social connect might play a greater role than the genetics. It seems that it is quite true. Eating habits, smoking taking up or quitting, faking accent, are few fronts where company really shows.Do you agree?

Absolutely!
But it can also work in the opposite way. It's mostly about your own discipline. The key is to surround yourself with people you want to be like, imitate their patterns and you will become like them, but having a few people in your circle who you do not want to be like also helps. You then learn from them and know what you don't want to be and make sure you do not do what they do.

Of course. Even involuntary acts are contagious, like yawning. It's almost always about the desire that you want to be socially accepted. Deviating from the "normal" tends to get you criticized. The environment one lives in almost always has the greatest impact on personality.

Yes it is very true the environment does has its toll.It is so very easy to get impacted by the group you spend time with.Another thing for sure is that it is tough to take the positives than from attaining the negatives of the troupe you are staying with.

This is so especially true of high school and college age students. The more they are surrounded by their peers, the stronger the influence to graduate into certain behaviors. Sadly, alot of the behaviors do not coincide with family values or principles.

This is a well known power in the diplomatic community as well as the social engineering community. Google social engineering and see if that does not make the hairs on your back stand up

That's why many motivational / self-help books advise to pick your friends carefully and surround yourself with people you want to be like, not those who will draw you back with their poor discipline and bad habits. Now, you can be a teacher to them, of course, but that requires excellent self-discipline.

Man is a social being. What happens around him highly effects his own actions. Bad habits, in particular, like smoking are especially contagious. At all ages, peer group habits influences us the most.

This is a very important issue that most of the traits of the younger age don't coincide with the family values. But as it is said that human is a social animal and has to live upto the the demarcations that are drawn by the society.
